Last week we became aware of a  “required” training that was listed in the United Learning Network (ULN) training screens for Flight Attendants. This training, Takeoff: Learning! is intended to facilitate transition into the new learning system.

In discussions today with Labor Relations, we have clarified that this training is not a mandatory or “required” training.  The Inflight Home screen of the ULN has been updated with a statement which now reads:

The Takeoff: Learning eLearning lesson is NOT a MANDATORY requirement.

In addition, on the “Assigned page”, the ‘TakeOff: Learning’ lesson now reflects ‘Recommended’ vs ‘Required’.

We know that there have been many around this requirement and the last minute nature of its introduction has created much confusion.  We have a commitment from management that those individuals who completed this training prior to the issuance of this update will be compensated for completing this training.

As part of the transition to the new learning system, there will be a blackout from December 2 -7, 2015 during which time neither the Learning Network or the Takeoff: Learning! systems will be available.

As a reminder:

  • All training activities “completed” prior to the blackout on December 2 at 5:00 pm Central time will be migrated to the Takeoff: Learning! platform.  In other words, these will be shown in the new learning system as completed.
  • All “in progress” training activities  will not maintain their bookmark during the transition from ULN to Takeoff: Learning!  As a result, the activities will need to be started again from the beginning in the new learning system.

If you have additional questions, please contact your Local Council office.
