Ladies and Gentlemen:

Congratulations! Today we have cause for celebration. Through your vote, our Tentative Agreement becomes our ratified Contract. An overwhelming majority of Flight Attendants, 88.5 percent, participated in the vote and 70.4 percent solidly cast their ballots in favor of the Agreement.

Together, we achieved our main goal in Expedited Mediation to secure significant compensation and quality of work life improvements that you told us were must-haves, before moving onto Single Contract Negotiations. We have taken a stand in support of our profession with improvements today and a clear path to a better tomorrow in Single Contract Negotiations.

With today's ratification we will see higher compensation for our work in the new schedule month of March. Our new Contract is not only a critical stepping stone towards those negotiations, it is our first opportunity for significant improvements to our pay, quality of work and job security since prior to United's bankruptcy. We have strategically improved the foundation upon which we build our negotiations for a Single Contract.

There will be a great deal to communicate to you in the coming weeks as the improvements from our new Contract are implemented. It is an exciting time for positive change and looking forward, not back, as our future is bright and as you recognize with today's historic vote, we always do better when standing together.

Negotiations are about us as a community of Flight Attendants aspiring to do better as we advance our interests and those of our families and our entire profession. Today we celebrate our achievement, for it is a hard won victory. We also need to recognize that while the improvements we achieved in these negotiations are significant, we are far from done. Soon we will begin preparations for Single Contract Negotiations, as this new ratified Agreement is only the first of two Agreements for improvements at the new United Airlines.

Thank you for participating in this vote and standing strong to defend and enhance our careers. Your vote has determined how we move forward together.

In Solidarity,

Greg Davidowitch, President
United Master Executive Council
