The following is a review of the rules governing vacation trades between Flight Attendants:

  • As provided in Section 18.S. of our Contract, two vacation trades are allowed per year for each Flight Attendant
  • Vacation trades must be between Flight Attendants at the same domicile
  • Vacation trades that touch a month end overlap will not be processed
  • Vacation trades involving a primary (Phase I) vacation award must be for the same (or equal) total number of primary (Phase I) vacation days as set forth in Section 18.S. of our Contract.
  • When trading secondary or tertiary vacation periods, trades involving vacation periods of unequal length will result in an equal number of days (the smaller number) of vacation days being awarded to each Flight Attendant participating in the trade.
  • Vacation trades are process by the Flight Attendant Support Team and must be received by the last days of the Flight Attendant schedule month – two months prior to the month in which the vacation resides with the following exceptions:
    • When trading vacations wholly within the same schedule month, trades must be received prior to the opening of the schedule bidding for the month involved.
    • Trades involving January vacation periods must be submitted by December 15, 2011.
    • Trades involving February vacation periods must be submitted by December 30, 2011.

Trades with open vacation periods with the company are governed by Section 18.G. of our Contract and are processed by the Flight Attendant Support Team.  Interim vacation bidding opens at 0800 local domicile time on the first week day (January 2, 2012) of the Flight Attendant schedule month and closes at 0800 local domicile time seven (7) days later.  If you were assigned a January or February vacation in the annual award, you are not eligible to bid out of these vacation periods by use of the interim vacation bid process.  However, you may move a February vacation to any other vacation period wholly within the February schedule month.  (As a remind, 2012 is a leap year – the February Flight Attendant schedule month begins 1/31/2012 and ends on March 1, 2012 and is a 31-day month.)
