We'll Get Our Game Back Soon

Source: Commentary

You've probably noticed that Jumpseatnews is waaaay out of date lately.

  • The 30-day ANP link is from October.
  • The vacation day listings are from 2009.
  • The senior reserve letters are months old.
  • Domicile snapshots are from December 2009.

Quite frankly, it's an embarassing state of affairs. I've been publishing this site since 2000 and take a great deal of pride in it.

That said, during the past six months, I've taken on more and more and more and more responsibility in my family/home life. I have a 2-year-old and a 9-month-old running (and crawling) around. Ask anyone that possesses such a toddler/infant combo: you just don't have a single friggin second to breathe, much less do anything else like update dual-aisle service flow information.

“I had planned on launching a revised (updated design) of Jumpseatnews last month to celebrate the 10-year anniversary. That didn't happen either.”

I had planned on launching a revised (updated design) of Jumpseatnews last month to celebrate the 10-year anniversary. That didn't happen either.

The hardest challenge I've ever had is balancing my work life with my family life. Sorry, but the family will win every time.

That said, efforts are now underway to get this site back on track with more timely news updates. I'm also implimenting faster ways of getting the articles posted and the updates made using a better content management system. This should help. A lot.

A lot of personal web sites/blogs are going the way of the Dodo bird. Facebook (the K-Mart of the internet) has taken over. Besides, it's just so darn easy to make news updates to Facebook. People often wonder: why even bother having a small personal, independent web site at all anymore?

My reason is simple: I enjoy it. Enough said.

Oh, and screw a Facebook-only internet. :-)

In the meantime, there's another item I forgot to mention. For those of you who remember me mentioning Loki months ago, we had to re-home him with another family as he was aggressive toward children. However, after months of waiting, we finally found the most wonderful companion. Only now, has enough time gone by, where I feel like making the formal announcement. So here it is:

Meet Piper

Piper

No, she is not Bailey. Never will be. But she's already stolen our hearts.

Anyhow, please bear with JSN. We're not going anywhere and we'll get our game back soon.
