Scheduling: Who Are They?

Flight Attendant Scheduling and Support is comprised of three distinct departments that optimize flight attendant schedules from plan to execution. The group strives to maintain schedule integrity, while providing services in a customer-focused manner to enhance the quality of life for our employees. Listed below are some of the functions performed by each department.

Crew Resource Analysis and Forecasting Team (CRAFT)

  • Determine domicile trip assignments (based on hotel/transportation costs, per diem, flight time credit, flight schedule, etc.)
  • Assess flight attendant manpower needs, supply, and vacation liability
  • Assess impact of transfers, leaves, vacations, etc.
  • Determine crew complement requirements
  • Reserve/XSC analysis
  • Monitor and track monthly over/understaffing performance
  • Monitor and track monthly language understaffing performance
  • Assess schedule flexibility costs (30-day ANP, GWOP, line averages, transfers, etc.)
  • Reporting and tracking of FACTS, Marketrak, and Reliability performance

Advance Schedule Planning (ASP)

  • Complete domicile studies to determine costs/benefits of moving flying to different locations
  • Develop monthly DSL (IDs) based on aircraft schedule and forecasted passenger loads
  • Create monthly bid packages, key pages, and cover letters
  • Build and review lines of flying in conjunction with AFA Scheduling Committee
  • Award primary and relief lines of flying

Onboard Crew Operations (includes OPBSK and Regional Crew Desks)

  • Manage the daily operation
  • Respond to flight attendant operational questions and make day-of changes to the schedule
  • Monitor daily over/understaffing
  • Build extra IDs based on load requirements
  • Make reserve and standby assignments
  • Reassign crews due to irregular operations
  • Manage flight attendant overages and shortages by optimizing reserve utilization
  • Evaluate potential to increase allocations for GWOP and trip trades with open flying
  • Process current day ANP
