Hi everyone! This is Patti. And welcome to FLT-LINE. Today is Tuesday,
March 11 and I am recording this from Los Angeles where I've been
yesterday and today talking with flight attendants and visiting with one
of our key corporate customers.

In my travels in the past few weeks I've seen that all of us are concerned
about mounting political tension. And I want to assure you that should
the United States go to war with Iraq, United has a war contingency plan
in place that can be implemented as necessary. The plan is designed to
enable the company to reduce capacity and costs in a way that is closely
linked to any possible changes in travel demand. Through the Air
Transport Association, the industry also is in discussions with the U.S.
government regarding the potential need for financial relief in the event
of an armed conflict.

At the same time, the Onboard Service team is making its own
contingency preparations with your best interests in mind. All Onboard
Service departments are developing plans to ensure your safety and
security and our continued operation.

With customers in mind, United last week announced changes to its
travel policies in the event of a military conflict. We want our customers
to feel confident about booking their trips, and know that if there is a
war, we will offer them flexibility to change their plans. If a war begins,
for a period of time, we will not charge cancellation or change fees to
customers already enroute who rebook their travel or to those who
postpone it. Of course, we will continue to monitor the international
situation and make changes as necessary.

Please reassure our customers, and your friends, family and neighbors
that they can continue to buy tickets on United with confidence. Their
safety is our number one priority, and we are committed to that. We are
working closely with the Transportation Security Administration to
ensure that all of our employees and customers experience the highest
level of safety and security.

With events at United Airlines, and in the world, unfolding as quickly as
they are, look to SkyNet, particularly NewsReal, for the most up-to-date
and accurate information. You can call in for NewsReal by dialing 800-
EYE-ON-UA.

And as well, keep playing FLT-LINE and I'll keep you as up to date as I
can as information is available.

Keep taking great care of each other and of our customers. I'll talk with
you again on Friday from Chicago. Thanks for dialing in.
