Hello, this is Glenn Tilton. I appreciate this opportunity to tell you how proud I am to be joining the United team. I'm looking forward to working closely with all of you to find the right way to get our company moving forward again.

I accepted this challenge because I believe United has great strengths. Outstanding people, a world-renowned brand and the best routes and one of the youngest fleets in our business. All of that gives us a solid foundation to build on for the future and to benefit everyone with a stake in United—employees, shareholders, travelers, everyone.

We're going to have to make some important first steps before we see a clear path ahead of us. We have to make some difficult but critical decisions right away to make our company more competitive and to address the critical financial issues we face.

There's only one way we can get this done, and that's together. Everyone will have to pitch in, and you have my personal commitment to do just that. One of my first jobs is to sit down with our unions to talk about the problems we face and to get their help in moving this company forward. I've already had good and productive conversations with the two union leaders on the board of directors, Paul Whiteford and Randy Canale. I know they're committed to working together to find solutions to the challenges the company faces.

I'm also going to be reaching out every chance I get to people throughout this company to hear your concerns and listen to your ideas. We must have a partnership based on mutual trust and mutual respect. You have my commitment to do whatever is necessary to make that happen. This is a difficult time for United, and we all have a very big job to do. But I'm convinced that by working together we can continue to serve the needs of our employees, our shareholders and our millions of customers worldwide.

Thank you for the work that you do every day. And I look forward to the work we're going to do together. I believe our best work is ahead of us.
