Hi, this is Glenn. As you know, the United Airlines union coalition presented the company with its proposed cost-savings proposal last week. We are evaluating the proposal in the context of United's current industry conditions and the overall business plan for the company, and we expect to meet with the coalition members early this week to review our analysis.
As we all work together to improve United's cost competitiveness, it's important to take a moment to appreciate the significance of this occasion. In the long term, our cooperation and our alignment will lead to a lasting advantage for United. As I have said in previous messages, we are also working very hard to complete our update to the business plan we filed with the Air Transportation Stabilization Board. We are on an extremely tight timetable. With the cooperation of everyone involved, however, we are making good progress.
In the meantime, as I have said last week, we need to focus on our airline, our customers and our competition -- and I want you to know that I'm more confident every day that we're doing just that. My confidence is boosted by the pilots I met in the command seminar last week, who are enthusiastically doing all that they personally can to make a positive difference. I am equally encouraged by the commitment of the pursers I met at the conclusion of their training session at headquarters last week.
All of us have to be fully committed to doing whatever we can, individually and as a team, to compete and to win in a very tough marketplace. That's why we are more closely coordinating the work of the non-labor cost savings task force and the team focused on the ATSB application. In the days to come, they will collaborate to ensure that we're setting ourselves up for future success.
Given the unprecedented nature and scope of all of these initiatives that we are undertaking, it's possible we won't be able to provide you with updates as often as you might like. I recognize that this may be frustrating at times, but I know you understand that we have to respect the process and allow it to run its course. I promise we'll share everything that's important whenever we're able to. Thanks for listening, and have a great week.
