As a result of recent weather and political incidents, the number of diversions of our regularly scheduled flights have occurred.  With this increase in these incidents, there has also been an increase in the number of questions on the requirements to conduct safety demonstrations.

Our eFAOM provides guidance on what must occur when flights divert or when we operate through flights.  That is, the safety demonstration must be completed in English prior to each takeoff, including through flights and diversions, even if no new customers board the aircraft.

Additionally, if any customers board or re-board the aircraft after the safety demonstration is complete, including delay situations where passengers have deplaned, the safety demonstration must be repeated or the additional customer(s), if known, may be briefed individually.

Flight Attendants having questions about the customer briefing and safety demonstration requirements are encouraged to review our eFAOM, Standard Operating Procedure (SOP), 5.21 and 5,21,1.

Note: Customer Briefing and Safety Demonstrations are a requirement pertinent to FAR 121.333, 121.571, 121.573)

If you have additional questions, we recommend that you contact your Local Safety Committee for a review of the applicable regulations and to obtain answers.
