Recently we published an educational article on how Flight Attendants are notified they have been moved into a line of flying through the Reserve move-up process.

Notification

The following is a review of the various methods by which you will be notified you have been moved into a line of flying:.          

1.     You may be notified that a Reserve move-up line has been constructed for you via a CCS Priority message from the FAST team.

2.     You may be notified by telephone that a Move-up line has been constructed for you.

3.     Flight Attendants who have been awarded a move-up line may also be notified by a corporate e-mail that is generated via Help Hub.  Help Hub is accessed via the Employee Services Tab >> Help Hub (under HR tools.)

Additionally, Flight Attendants who are awarded a move-up line that has a trip the day after the move-up line is built, will be sent a CCS priority message, will receive a telephone call and Help Hub advisement in the form of a corporate e-mail.

If, after having been awarded the move-up line, the FAST can see the Flight Attendant has begun trading trips in their move-upline, the company has taken the position that the Flight Attendant is obviously aware of her/his move-upline and will cease efforts to notify the Flight Attendant.

It is important to recognize that the building of move-up lines continues during the overnight hours.  Calls to advise Flight Attendants that move-uplines have been built will only be made during regular business hours, home domicile time. 

Release to a Reserve Move-Up Line

Notification of having been moved into a line of flying is a different action that being released to your move-up line by Crew Scheduling.

The JCBA Reserve Guide (page 12) indicates that if a Reserve is on assignment (a pairing or Standby) at the time awarded a move-up line of flying, she/he will be released to her/his move-up line once the assignment is completed.  If a Reserve is not on assignment at the time awarded a move-up line, she/he will be released to her/his move-up line with the approval of Crew Scheduling.

What must be emphasized and potentially appears to be misunderstood is that the “approval of Crew Scheduling” cannot be implied through the award of the move-up line.  Release to your move-up line is a specific action required by Crew Desk personnel.  In every instance, you must contact the Crew Desk to be released to your move-up line.
