Whoops.

It had been announced today that United Airlines will reinstate flight numbers 93 and 175.

Well, actually, no.  According to United, "the numbers had been 'inadvertently reinstated' into the company's system".  Whether this is backpedaling or somebody really screwed up doesn't matter at this point: the numbers will not be used as earlier reported.

That's good, because it would have been a bad idea and insulting to the crews that died on those planes.

I'm very, very, very glad to hear that this was not true.

And thanks to those folks that wrote letters to J. Smisek. Somebody over there should have been more careful.
