Ladies and Gentlemen:

Thank you to all our Members, who after careful deliberation participated in the June 2011 Voluntary Furlough bid. We are happy to report the Voluntary Furlough award sufficiently covered the numbers of furloughs required by the company. Additionally, through our Contractual benefit and work with the company for a reassessment of actual manpower needs, the Company was able to award all valid Voluntary Furlough requests.

All Voluntary Furloughs will begin June 1, 2011. Flight Attendants will receive a Voluntary Furlough confirmation letter from the company at their permanent address. United’s letter will also contain information about United's check-out process. The company will update Unimatic work history screens (FDWH), by the end of the day Friday, April 29, 2011.

We sincerely appreciate all Members who volunteered for the Voluntary Furlough Program. Our Flight Attendant community collectively helped protect the jobs of our most junior Members and we are grateful to all AFA Members who offered assistance to make this happen.

In Solidarity,

Greg Davidowitch, President
United Master Executive Council
