Regarding Continental flight attendants and their ability to access Jumpseatnews:

We will definitely allow Continental flight attendants to access Jumpseatnews.

The problem we have had has to do with file numbers for United and employee numbers for Continental. It actually comes down to a case of letters vs. numbers.

United file numbers use numbers-only while Continental uses a mix of letters and numbers. Worse still, some of the numbers are duplicates across both. This would create havoc with our own membership database system – and I have no doubt that the IT department over at United/Continental are also having these very same headaches---and are either drinking very heavily at the moment or trying to come up with a new numbering methodology. Probably, a bit of both.

I have no doubt that the entire employee number/file number system will be completely changed and all new numbers reassigned once the actual operational merge has been completed for the employees.

However, because of the crappy database mechanism this web site uses which utilizes employee number/file number and the differences between the two, we must wait until United has merged the employee numbers together and has come up with whatever new numbering scheme they plan on using. This may necessitate a rework of the Crew Lounge user database and until that time we are unable to create accounts for, and allow access to, the Crew Lounge for Continental flight attendants.

In the meantime, if you are a CAL FA, you are always welcome to visit the Facebook page where you will find both United and Continental flight attendants posting messages and connecting on that resource.

Once the file number/employee number issue has been resolved, we will let everyone know and begin taking applications at that time.

Thank you in advance for your patience.

Christopher
