A United Airlines network computer outage this morning at O'Hare is causing delays grounded a number of flights.  The problem began around 5:15 CST and ended just before 8:00 CST.  United reports the problem has been fixed and the system is slowly returning to normal, but is expected to take a few hours to make a complete recovery.  Systems that were primarily affected were those related to checking people in, which resulted in the inability to get final flight information to the crews working the flights.

Delays and some cancellations are likely today and could impact Flight Attendants on layover and throughout the system.  Our Contract includes reassignment parameters to allow the airline to respond to operational irregularities while ensuring certain pay and schedule protections for Flight Attendants. Carry your Contract and keep it close at hand.
