Paycheck Problem

Date: May 01, 2009

United Labor Relations advised us this evening of a problem with paychecks.  The May 1st "live" paychecks and A:14 checks may not be accepted by banks when Flight Attendants attempt to cash or deposit them because of a problem with the back side of the checks.

Electronic Funds Transfer Deposits are NOT affected.

Flight Attendants domiciled in SFO, LAX, LHR, FRA, NRT and HKG are not affected.

Here are the steps that payroll is currently taking to address the issue.

  • Any employee who has had their check rejected by the bank, can return it to their local station and will be immediately issued a new check.
  • For employees that are unable to do this, they should immediately call the Payroll Care Center at 866-825-7297.
  • United is asking all employees with paper checks who have not cashed them, to return them to their local station, and they will immediately be issued a new check.
  • United is reviewing and developing a process to make sure employees can be reimbursed for any bank fees that resulted from this error.
