This was sent to us by a United Airlines Flight Attendant.  If you know of anyone, other F/As, pilots, etc. that may be able to provide some info or guidance for her, I'm sure she would appreciate it as it certainly seems like a good cause.  If you know of any other non-profit causes started by UAL F/As, feel free to email us the article and we'll consider publishing here.  Happy New Year to 2010 and beyond!  -- Christopher

Angels' Voices - Rescue 9/11

I am a United Airlines flight attendant that started a non-profit organization in 2004 after I learned of the tragic death of a little girl from insecticide poisoning in my small hometown. Since 9/11 was the biggest act of violence in our lifetime to our country and company, I wanted to try and do things that were positive in our communities for these negative subjects. I host events at schools so the next generation hears the message to stop violence/abuse in the future. It is my way of honoring all who died that day.

"Angels' Voices Speak Up! Inc." is a registered federal 501c(3) organization and needs volunteers (flight attendants, pilots, other employee groups) in the future to use employee passes to transport animals from shelters who euthanize animals to no-kill shelters across the country. I am just getting started on this venture and hope to secure grants in the future, which could be a few months from now. United Airlines has waived the fee for employees to carry animals onboard, if we get the green light from the top to do this project I need a list of volunteers who could and would be willing to help us help animals.

As an organization we make hand-made stuffed animals that ride in law enforcement and emergency vehicles. These cuddly stuffed animals are an awareness vehicle and comforting tool for children in stressful situations. I call them "friends of first responders" in honor of all the first responders who died on 9/11 and that is what we call 911 when a child, animal or anyone else is being abused.

You may be wondering why I am now asking all of you to transport animals from one place to the other. Well, the Humane Society and myself believe there is a direct correlation between child abuse and animal abuse. What I hope to accomplish if I live a long life is to communicate and educate the next generation that abuse/violence is wrong and we need the break the cycle of abuse. Domestic Violence, Child Abuse and Animal Cruelty are all preventable and yet it still remains one of the reason so many humans die daily in this world.

Recently, many of you may have either seen on the Nightly News or read about a group of pilots who use their own funds and aircraft to transport animals from here to there. This group of animal lovers are called PilotsNPaws and I have contacted the Director of this group to offer possible help in the future with their cause. What I want to do as an organization in the future is to see if any of the animals we would transport could be used in a pet therapy capacity or canine partners for life program too. I feel many of these loyal friends could be saved that we will carry to other shelters, and actually may save a human one day.

If you want to volunteer please email me at the address below, if you cannot give of your time but want to help the cause please forward this message and my web address to all contacts on your email buddy list. If nothing else people will go to our website and see what it is I am trying to accomplish and see the message to stop violence/abuse in the world.
