'Click to Activate' Message Can Be Ignored

Microsoft recently lost a lawsuit in which the Internet Explorer browser software must make some changes with regard to embedded controls/applets---including the one that is used to make the Unimatic window appear.

In order to not have to pay millions of dollars in licensing fees, Microsoft changed the Internet Explorer web browser to require an activation click before a visitor is allowed to interact with an applet (such as the JRE used by Unimatic). (what is an applet?)

Microsoft has applied this change as a mandatory upgrade for Internet Explorer 6.0 that was released early April 2006. You may or may not have this fix already on your web browser. If you do, then you will see the following message when hovering your mouse over the JRE:

'Click to activate and use this control' is the specific message that you may see when holding your mouse over the loading window.

You do not need to take any action, nor click to activate. The Unimatic window will continue to load regardless of whether you click on it or not.

If you do click on it, you may end up opening a 2nd browser window that is actually the Sun Microsystems web site. If that happens, you can just close out that browser window.

Many web developers are scrambling to make changes to their web pages so that this message does not appear. The AOL crew channel has not yet made this change.
