On the June 13th Dear AFA tape, we cautioned all Members to take an AFA Representative to any meeting about United's new Safety Review Program and to decline to sign any document associated with the program.  While each of us practices safety procedures to ensure the safe travel of the passengers and other crewmembers in our care, AFA continues to press the company and the government to address safety issues in our work environment.  One issue that recently came to our attention was that Travelpro was issuing suitcases which did not contain a side handle.

This problem occurred within the last year.  United and Travelpro agreed to replace these suitcases for safety reasons, but the replacement period will end on June 30th and there is only ONE person handling the replacement at Travelpro.

Call Patty Duffy Only at Travelpro

If you were recently issued a bag with only one handle, contact the Travelpro Customer Service at 800-741-7471 extension 401, and leave a message for Patty Duffy – and Patty Duffy only.  Identify yourself as a United Flight Attendant with a suitcase that does not have a side handle and she will walk you through the steps to exchange your suitcase for a replacement with a side handle.  In order to take advantage of this exchange process, be sure to call Patty by June 30th.

Leave a Message with Your Information

If you must leave a message be sure to include:

  1. your name,
  2. file number,
  3. domicile,
  4. and contact number.

Patty has received several calls where a cell phone has broken up when the caller is reading their contact number or name.  Be sure to speak the information slowly and repeat your name and number a couple times.

Exchange Procedures:

Travelpro (Patty Duffy) will issue you a Return Merchandise Authorization (RMA) number and ship you a Rollaboard suitcase along with a pre-paid UPS return label.  Upon receipt of the new suitcase, place your suitcase without the side handle in the carton & affix the UPS label on the outside of the box.  Drop off at a UPS location.  To find the nearest UPS locations go to www.UPS.com.

Be sure to call Patty by June 30th.
