Hello, this is Jane Allen with a special Update for Friday, February 17, 2006

Two weeks ago, United became a publicly traded company once again. It was a tremendous step forward for us, and a direct result of the work we have done to restructure our company. Going forward, we must continue to make decisions about our business based on the balance of the best interests of our customers, employees and investors - all of our stakeholders.

As a publicly traded company, the investment community becomes a very important stakeholder in our future. And it is what the financial analysts have to say about us has that greatly influences current and potential investors.

This week analysts from many of the major investment firms published their views about United, and the reports have been positive. They credit the substantial changes we made to our cost structure, asset allocation and market positioning with enabling us to compete with the best of the legacy carriers.

Prudential said that it is our substantial changes that better enable us to compete with the best of the legacy carriers. Among other comments, Merrill Lynch said that we appear to have all of the necessary ingredients to become a profitable airline.

These financial institutions recognize the potential created by the fundamental changes we've made. They are counting on our continuing determination to make further improvements, and on our ability to successfully deal with the changes we will face as this industry continues to evolve. Now it 's up to all of us to deliver, through continuous improvement and by working smarter than our competitors .

Like the investment community, Asia continues to be an important part of our future. This week we celebrate "Pacific Day” to mark the more than 20 years we have been flying to the Asia-Pacific region. This significant milestone underscores the importance of the Asia-Pacific region to our company. The economic growth throughout Asia is phenomenal and it will continue, especially in developing markets such as China and Vietnam .

Business and leisure travel between Asia and the United States is on the rise. The number of visitors to the U.S. from China is forecast to grow at almost 10 percent this year, after growing 15 percent last year.

Asia presents us with great opportunities, and we are moving aggressively to take advantage of those opportunities. Over the last year, we have been increasing our capacity in this high-growth market. Today, one quarter of our total capacity is working in the Asia-Pacific arena.

Last year, more than 5.4 million customers chose United to take them to, from or within the countries that make up the Asia Pacific region. Global Service member Mike Davis is one of those customers. He sent us a letter to acknowledge the outstanding service he received on a recent flight from San Francisco to Osaka .

Mr. Davis tells us that Purser June Shishido was extremely pleasant, professional and helpful, adding that she immediately made him feel like a valued customer.

He describes himself as feeling frustrated and confused by some misinformation when he boarded the airplane, and credits June for taking time to get the complete and correct answer to his question. She continued to check on him throughout the flight and apologized more than once for the difficult day he had been experiencing. Mr. Davis concludes his letter by saying, “I fly a great deal in my line of work and June was a shining example of superb customer service. It is employees like June that keep me coming back to United on a frequent basis.”

I want to add my thanks to June for inspiring such loyalty. It is that kind of exceptional service that has contributed to our success in this very important market, and will help ensure that we will be able to compete successfully for many years to come.

That's all for today. Thank you for listening and fly safely.
