All about Denver and DIA.

Hi, this is Glenn, and I'm calling from Washington, D.C., on Wednesday, March 2.

This Monday, United hosted a celebration for the City of Denver -- a celebration of the 10th anniversary of the opening of Denver International Airport (DIA).

I was personally pleased to be able to host the event at our training center and to be joined by those who worked so hard to make the new airport a reality and a success. Local business people and government leaders, such as former Mayor Webb, Mayor Hickenlooper and Jeff Potter, CEO of Frontier Airlines.

While in Denver, I took advantage of the opportunity to meet with key corporate customers and other government officials for lunch downtown.

As one of our five domestic hubs and the newest airport in the U.S. with world-class facilities for our operations, DIA is important to United's continuing success and the continuing progress of the Denver community and the greater Colorado market.

Our partnership in Denver with business and political leaders has contributed to the economic growth of the entire region, and we are focused on doing our part to expand the role of air travel in bringing to Denver the money, talent and new ideas on which prosperity relies.

While in Denver, I also had the opportunity to speak to about 100 or so of our employees over about an hour and a half. We talked about our progress, what comes next in our restructuring and our steady march toward exit from Chapter 11. As always, I was very impressed in these meetings by how our team, in this instance the Denver team, wants to be involved personally, and how people are committed to sharing their ideas about how we can continue to become more efficient, more productive and provide better service for our customers.

My purpose on this trip was to make two very important points to all of the groups I spoke to throughout the day and into the evening.

First, that United has great assets in Denver: DIA with its state-of-the-art facilities, a deep engagement with the community and of course our employees, who are doing fine work to serve the community of Denver.

Second, and perhaps more importantly, I wanted to make it clear that United is committed to taking these assets and building on them -- improving United's operations at DIA and making our overall service even better.

At DIA, we are looking closely at how we do virtually everything, from passenger arrival in the lobby to aircraft arrival and departure at the gates.

We are in the middle of an admittedly difficult but important task of changing how we work together and the processes we follow to do our jobs in order to be as effective and as efficient and as customer-focused as we possibly can be. We are working to make travel more reliable, easier and more convenient for our customers, and to provide them the service that they want and have come to expect.

This focus on significantly better performance and continuous improvement is the basis of all the work we are doing throughout the company. As I have said many times, we must continue to make United better by improving the way we do business, from the airports to world headquarters.

Rethinking the work that we have done for years may sound easy, but everyone involved knows in fact it is not. It demands commitment, discipline and concentration from every single employee. And, it takes a willingness to acknowledge that we have to change.

We have made huge progress over the past two years in lowering costs and improving performance. To become a great company, however, we must focus every day on operational excellence, continuous improvement and customer satisfaction.

We must be pleased but never satisfied with our progress, acknowledging our successes, celebrating our victories, but always looking for how we can get better -- more productive and more efficient. In Denver, I can assure you, we are fully engaged in that work, which will benefit our employees, our customers and the communities that we serve.

That's all for now on the call. Until next time, stay United.
