Apollo Passwords to Change

Beginning Sept 15, 2003, the types of passwords you can use for Apollo will change.

The new password requirements will be the following:

  • You must use alpha and numeric characters

  • You must keep unique passwords for five cycles.  I think this one means that you can't switch back and forth between the same two passwords---like I always do.

  • Maintaining a restricted password list.  I guess this is for people (like me) who oftentimes use EASY-TO-REMEMBER words like 'united', 'jumpseat', or 'nounlimitedtriptradesdammit'.

  • Limiting password changes to one per day.  No problem with this one; people ought to make up their minds with something and stick with it!

The whole password/username mess on the Internet and computers is getting way out of control.  I have a piece of paper will all my silly passwords, usernames, userID's, Login info, secret decoder ring ID's, etc... that keeps growing longer all the time.

Look even at this silly site:  You need to have a username/password to access the Crew Lounge.  You need to remember what e-mail address you provided (in case you want it e-mailed back to you and can check the correct account).  And now you need another set of password/username information for the new JSN Marketplace section.

Guilty as charged.
