About the Retiree Pass Travel Situation

As you know, with the pass travel policy changes, United is now charging retirees for pass travel as if they were active employees.

Problem is, we have a thing with United Airlines called a contract dated December 3, 1997.  And in this 'Contract' or 'Collective Bargaining Agreement' or whatever you want to call it is a specific side letter (p. 288)  that allows for “unlimited, free, space available transportation to any North American destination including Hawaii” for retired Flight Attendants with at least ten (10) years of service.

Another contractual 'disagreement' it seems.  I don't see United budging on this issue anytime soon; so retirees beware!  Make sure you allocate pass travel funds for your trips.
