More major changes for RET, this time with regard to the protective position.  Check out this story from today's Onboard Updates:

Based on guidance from the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA), United’s Emergency Procedures Training is changing the flight attendant protective position.

According to the FAA, the crossed arm position should not be used because flight attendants have a tendency to grab the shoulder harness for support. As a result, slack is created in the system, which increases the likelihood of arms flailing and possibly the flight attendant slipping through the seat belt. Therefore, United has adopted the more universal protective position of holding on to the side or front of the jumpseat. If necessary, flight attendants may slide their hands under thighs and grasp underside of thighs but should avoid actually sitting on their hands.

For complete procedures, see Page 14.80.1 in the Flight Attendant Operations Manual (FAOM). Although this new procedure is now in the FAOM prior to flight attendants receiving training, this new protective position becomes effective and training begins April 1. However, flight attendants will not be tested on the new brace position in RET 2003.

While you're learning that, you'll also have something new to yell.  See the story on 'New Sentence to Yell'.
