All about his meetings in Denver.

Hi, it's Glenn, and it's Wednesday, October 1st.

Last week, we held our board meeting, our officers' meeting and our weekly Executive Council meeting in Denver.

It was an extremely productive and satisfying week in which we did much more than just get together in a different city, in a different conference room. The company was busy beyond those discussions with customer and business leader events, we had meetings with political leaders, and employee meetings throughout the city. All of this coincided with ongoing marketing promotions throughout the Denver area.

I want to take a moment to personally thank everyone in Denver for your warm welcome and for all of the work that all of you did to ensure that our visit and last week's events were successful and went very smoothly.

We want to continue to have these meetings outside of Chicago because it is very important for them to be held where our operations are, where our markets are and where the work is being done that is such a significant part of our restructuring.

We're doing this now because we have made such significant progress in the restructuring. And, as our progress continues, you'll be seeing more of us in key hubs and cities periodically throughout the year.

Denver was certainly a logical starting point as our second largest hub and an important contributor to the company's growth over the years.

We wanted to, and I think we did, demonstrate to our employees and our customers, and the business community and political leadership in Denver that our commitment to their city and the surrounding region remains very strong. And we wanted to say thank you to all of our employees for your support.

I'd like to take just a moment and give you a little sense of last week's activities. For the board, it brought to life some aspects of the day-to-day, quality work that the people of United are doing beyond delivering excellent operational performance.

To give you an example, several of our directors had the opportunity to tour TK, United's world-class training facility and gained an appreciation of just how excellent that operation truly is.

We hosted an event for business leaders from major Denver corporations that are United clients at the Denver Broncos-Oakland Raiders game in the United Suite. And it was, importantly, a game between two cities that are both important to United, and it gave us a chance to talk to customers and to business leaders about our commitment to both markets.

We held a reception for business leaders and our major customers. And, of course, we had the privilege of having the new mayor of Denver John Hickenlooper open our board meeting.

I had a very productive one-on-one meeting with Governor Owens and Mayor Hickenlooper.

Members of the senior team fanned out and met with employees at Denver International Airport and at our reservations office, as well as with union representatives; top sales people met with travel agents and with corporate customers.

Finally, in a very busy week, we held a ceremony at Denver International to sign a long-term, multi-million dollar guaranteed flying contract with our long-time partner Norwegian Cruise Lines. All week long, Denver saw United advertisements, as well as numerous promotional events throughout the city and the airport.

At the board meeting on Thursday, we reviewed financial and operational performance of the company. The directors continue to be encouraged by the progress of the company -- operationally, financially and commercially.

We also announced the company's Monthly Operating Results for the month of August. We were all very pleased with the company's financial improvement, as we should be. Operating profit for the month tripled from the month prior, and we continued to generate positive cash flow.

Looking ahead, bookings are running better than expected as we move into the more challenging Fall-Winter travel season, a tribute to both continued operational performance and marketing and sales efforts that are re-engaging United customers.

While there is still a lot of work left to do, because of your great effort, United is now out there and we are competing.

I look forward to talking with more of you in person as I travel around the system. Until then, keep up the great work -- and stay united.
