Hello, everyone, this is Glenn. I'm pleased to have the opportunity to speak with you after my first full week on the job. As we all know, last week marked the first anniversary of Sept. 11, and it was a most difficult week of memories for all of us at United. I had the privilege to spend Wednesday with our fellow United, and also our American, colleagues in Washington Square Park to honor the colleagues and passengers who lost their lives a year ago, Sept. 11.

During the week, I've also had the opportunity to meet and visit with many employees, including those who gathered with us in the reception at headquarters on Friday afternoon. I've also talked a great deal this week with our union leaders, and those conversations have reflected many of your comments to me.

You have clearly expressed the need to move forward, to find solutions and to make good decisions, and that's what we're working toward. As evidence of that, the leaders of the union coalition sent me a letter on Friday. In their letter, they asked United to request an extension to our deadline for providing an updated plan to the ATSB. With an extension, they can complete their work on a new framework for participation in United's recovery plan.

They have said they can submit that framework by approximately Thursday of this week. We'll work with the ATSB to ensure we can update our plan once we receive the coalition's recommendations. While this is a change from our initial plan, our productive discussions have cleared the way for communication and cooperation that have allowed us to make progress so far. As we continue to make progress, I'd like to suggest we all begin this new week focused on our airline and its safe and reliable performance; focused on our valuable customers and the choices we know they can make; focused on United people and also focused on our competitors -- competitors who stand to benefit from our distraction, but will not benefit from our distraction, because we will not give them the opportunity to do so.

Thanks very much and I look forward to talking to you again next week.
