The changes negotiated into Section 9.G.4.a. during the bargaining that led to our current 2012-2016 Contract will be implemented as of April 8, 2015.  As of that date, Lineholder Flight Attendants will be have the ability to indicate preferences for the type of flying desired when requesting trades with open flying.  Similar to our ability to make “generic requests” for open flying, this new automation was negotiated to provide us with the opportunity to specify “generic preferences” for trades with open flying.   Based on the language in our Contract these preferences shall include, but are not limited to:

Specific ID

Domestic/International

Work Positions

Number of Days

Credit Time (minimum/maximum)

Layover Stations

Co-terminals

Check-in times

Arrival Times

Equipment Type

This negotiated improvement to the Trip Trading with Open Flying Process will not affect any existing open flying and/or trades with open flying that are on file as of the date of implementation.  Additional information about this trade functionality will be available from our website early next week.

The MEC Communication Committee has created a Did You Know education article entitled How to Submit/Remove a Lineholder Trip Trading Preference with Open Flying.
