United's Alcohol Policy Change

Source: Other

Date: May 22, 2014

UPDATE: United just changed, I mean, um, clarified their policy.  It has been revised to say:

"You may carry alcohol, including beer and wine in your luggage while working and on company property in its original, sealed container.  No permission is needed.”

Well, there you go...

Here's the original story we published:

United appears to have announced a change to the alcohol policy as it relates to Flight attendants.  From their Onboard Updates or Inflight Services Weekly or whatever it's called now:

Flight attendants are not to be in possession of alcohol at any time while on duty for any reason without written authorization from management except for duty-free purchases made during that specific trip pairing/ID. In such case, a receipt must be retained.

Interesting...  Is this only for the flight attendants?  Or does this policy also apply to the folks, you know, who are actually flying the aircraft?  Just asking.
