Effective with the March 2013 schedule month, the check-in and boarding times for the A319/A320 aircraft increases by five (5) minutes at both the home domicile and at a layover point.  In addition, the check-in time at a layover point for the 747 and 777 aircraft increases by five (5) minutes.  For these two jumbo aircraft, check-in time at the home domicile remains unchanged and revisions to Flight Attendant and Passenger Boarding times are being considered by the company but have not been published.

These changes were part of the global settlement that was reached between AFA and the company at the end of December 2012 involving a solution to MEC 5-12.  In this case, the company had been improperly reducing the Reserve minimum guarantee when vacation was applied to the Reserve schedule and the value of the vacation period was less than the value of the Reserve days dropped by the vacation.

*Section 12.N.1. provides for an increase of up to :45 minutes to the Commencement of Duty, at home or at a layover point, for specificdeparting international flights provided this information is published in the lines and monthly Bid Package Cover Letter prior to bidding.

It is important to remember that the settlement does not change our Contractual maximum time on duty as provided for in either Sections 7.I.4. or 12.I. of our Contract.  In addition, the pay provisions contained within Section 8.A. – Minimum Pay and Credit remain unchanged.

The March 2013 Key Pages reflect the new check-in times.  As a reminder, the layover point check-in reflects the time Flight Attendants are to be at the departure gate.

These changes to report times are not effective until March 2, 2013, the start of the March schedule month.  Should you encounter any discrepancy during the month of February, please report these to us at the AFA office.
