United has added a new pass rider category, Primary Friend. The new primary friend category allows one pass rider to board at the Flight Attendant’s boarding priority when traveling unaccompanied. Flight Attendants may have either a spouse, domestic partner or a primary friend (enrolled friend) on their travel profile. Currently our enrolled friends board at the family boarding priority and a spouse or domestic partner board at the employees boarding priority. Flight Attendants, who do not have a spouse or domestic partner on their travel profile, will now be eligible for a primary friend to board equal to a spouse or domestic partner.
Only Flight Attendants with two enrolled friends need to take action at this time. The 2013 designation can be made now and will be valid through December 31, 2013. Starting in January, you will be able to make your designation for the 2014 calendar year. To select your primary friend visit United’s Fly Together website and go to employeeRES > Quick Links > Employee Profile.
If your primary friend (enrolled friend) has future unaccompanied travel booked, you will need to cancel and rebook the itinerary through employeeRES to take advantage of United’s new boarding priority.
