The *FIX (Star Fix) function on all equipped aircraft will be deactivated Feb. 1.
This was that special number you dialed that would connect you with the maintenance people in order to troubleshoot inflight equipment problems. According to United, "the idea was for Maintenance to help flight attendants resolve these issues in-the-moment so as not to disservice customers."
United goes on to say, "Over the years, Star Fix was used to report other cabin items (seats, galley items, lavatories, etc.), increasing the call volume, which required more manpower than available. After researching alternatives, the decision was made to use other reporting methods already in place to further align processes across our entire fleet."
Oh well, we will always have fond memories of Star Fix.
