Some visitors may have noticed that Jumpseatnews went offline for about 10 minutes today. It did and I've finally figured out why: connection limits causing the web host to boot us offline while they recycle the server's memory.
This can happen when you have a web hosting account and:
#1 - Your web site consumes more resources than your account allows
or...
#2 - Your web site has programming problems.
It may be #2 but I'm not so sure. Based on the logs shown below, it appears that this is happening on a variety of pages to this site---and they can't all suck, LOL.
So, this website will continue to go offline from time to tome (for about 10 min each incident while the server 'resets' and sleeps off its hangover) until this is resolved.
It's looking more and more like I may have to upgrade to a dedicated server and full-blown dedicated database machine to keep up with the data connection requests.
Patience, as they say, is a virtue.
