As provided for in Section 18.K.1.c. of our Contract, the daily rate for vacation as of February 28, 2013 increases to 3:00 hours/vacation day. In discussions with the company, due to other high priority automation requirements, the programming changing the applicable rate per vacation day will not be implemented until later this month. As a result, Flight Attendants who have been awarded vacation periods in February which include February 28 & March 1st should be aware that those vacation postings are currently inaccurate.
February 2013 schedules were awarded today so the vacation postings will be inaccurate for a brief period of time.
Once the programming is completed, automation will be used to update these affected vacation periods to increase the value of each vacation day, on February 28 and March 1st, by fifteen (15) minutes. When this work is completed, Flight Attendants will see the original vacation posting deleted and a replacement posting for the total value of the vacation period will replace it. As an example, a Flight Attendant with a 10 day vacation which included February 28 & March 1 will see the vacation housekept into their February lines of flying (which was awarded today) with a value of 27:30. On implementation of the automation, this entry will be deleted from the DFAP (it will still appear in the DFAP with an asterisk (*) and will be replaced with a new posting for 28 hours calculated by taking 8 days at 2:45/vacation day (22 hours) and 2 days at 3:00/vacation day (6 hours).
Once implemented, vacation periods will be paid correctly on a going forward basis.
