Over the past several weeks we have received reports from Flight Attendants who have experienced difficulties when attempting to use our Contractual Cabin Jumpseat Authority (CJA) as provided in Section 4.R.  Based on AFA's continued advocacy and your reports from the field, the August 22, 2012 edition of Inflight Services Weekly has provided clarification on the procedures to be used when requesting CJA travel.  We recommend that you keep a copy of these procedures with you should you encounter difficulties.

The standard procedures to be used when processing Flight Attendant CJA travel are mutually understood by Airport Operations and Flight Operations personnel.   When traveling CJA keep in mind the following clarifications published by the company:

  • There is no paperwork for you to fill out at the gate
  • If you are cleared to an actual jumpseat, the agent will print a jumpseat authorization and hand it to you.
  • Present the authorization and your company ID badge to the lead/FSC/ISM/purser.
  • Introduce yourself to the flight deck when you present the authorization form and company ID.

Should you experience any difficulties or have additional questions, contact your Local Council Office.
