United Airlines is expected to announce new flights on Wednesday, including summertime non-stop flight from Chicago to Ireland.
The five-times-weekly nonstop service will be between Chicago O'Hare and Shannon Airport in western Ireland, beginning June 6 and ending Aug. 26.
The flight will depart Chicago O'Hare daily -- except Tuesday and Wednesday -- at 6 p.m., arriving in Shannon at 7:30 a.m. the next day. The return flight will depart Shannon daily -- except Wednesday and Thursday -- at 11 a.m., arriving in Chicago at 1:05 p.m. the same day. United will operate the flight using Boeing 757-200 aircraft with a total of 169 seats. Tickets go on sale Wednesday.
Another new local flight will be daily nonstop service from Chicago to Mobile, Ala., starting April 9. Those tickets go on sale Saturday.
