JSN Not Closed In SOPA Protest

Source: Commentary

Date: Jan 19, 2012

Many web sites on the Internet are going dark today to protest SOPA.  Here's an article on the subject in case you don"t know what SOPA is or how bad it will be for web sites like Jumpseatnews.  For example, Wikipedia will be shut down.  WordPress will be shut down.  Check out the Google home page.

However…

Boycotts and shutdowns don’t work.  They never do. They simply are a hassle for users who may want, or need, to use the web sites and/or services.  So, I’m not shutting this web site down for the 24 hour protest period.

SOPA is bad.  Google it if you don't know why it's bad and the threat it causes.  Even the asshole who wrote the proposal appears to have violated his own law on his own web site.

The only action that can be taken with regard to protecting the internet, and to protest these stupid and miserable SOPA/PIPA bills before Congress, is to go after the following "leaders" who have been instrumental in pushing SOPA though Congress:

H.R.3261 - Stop Online Piracy Act

Sponsor: Rep. Lamar Smith (R-Texas)
Co-sponsors: Rep. Howard Berman (D-California)
Rep. Marsha Blackburn (R-Tennessee)

Rep. John Conyers (D-Michigan)
Rep. Ted Deutch (D-Florida)
Rep. Elton Gallegly (R-California)
Rep. Bob Goodlatte (R-Virginia)
Rep. Timothy Griffin (R-Arkansas)
Rep. Dennis A. Ross (R-Florida)
Rep. Adam Schiff (D-California)
Rep. Lee Terry (R-Nebraska)

S.968 – Protect IP Act of 2011

Co-sponsors: Sen. Lamar Alexander (R-Tennessee)
Sen. Kelly Ayotte (R-New Hampshire)
Sen. Michael F. Bennet (D-Colorado)
Sen. Richard Blumenthal (D-Connecticut)
Sen. Roy Blunt (R-Missouri)
Sen. John Boozman (R- Arkansas)
Sen. Benjamin L. Cardin (D-Maryland)
Sen. Robert P. Casey Jr. (D-Pennsylvania)
Sen. Thad Cochran (R-Mississippi)
Sen. Christopher A. Coons (D-Delaware)
Sen. Bob Corker (R-Tennessee)
Sen. Richard Durbin (D-Illinois)
Sen. Michael B. Enzi (R-Wyoming)
Sen. Dianne Feinstein (D-California)
Sen. Al Franken (D-Minnesota)
Sen. Kirsten E. Gillibrand (D-New York)
Sen. Lindsey Graham (R-South Carolina)
Sen. Chuck Grassley (R-Iowa)
Sen. Kay Hagan (D-North Carolina)
Sen. Orrin G. Hatch (R-Utah)
Sen. Amy Klobuchar (D-Minnesota)
Sen. Herb Kohl (D-Wisconsin)
Sen. Joseph I. Lieberman (D-Connecticut)
Sen. John McCain (R-Arizona)
Sen. Marco Rubio (R-Florida)
Sen. Charles E. Schumer (D-New York)
Sen. Jeanne Shaheen (D-New Hampshire)
Sen. Tom Udall (D-New Mexico)
Sen. Sheldon Whitehouse (D-Rhode Island)

By "go after", I mean: Go after their jobs.  It's not that hard to vote any or all of them out of office.

This web site will remain open.  I’ve worked too damn hard on it to just shut it down for an entire day because these buffoons listed above don't understand how the internet, DNS, and web sites work.
