The company expects to secure their Single Operating Certificate (SOC) on November 10, 2011. When this happens, United’s Recurrent Emergency Training (RET) program will effectively be eliminated and replaced by Continental’s Continuous Qualifications (CQ) training. As a result, there will be significant changes to the typical scheduling plan for RET in November.
- November RET classroom schedule will be limited to only the first 9 days of November and will be conducted at all TK Centers.
- In the month of November only, Flight Attendants from JFKSW and BOSSW will attend RET in Denver. For scheduling purposes, this change of location will require an additional night’s layover in DEN.
- Flight Attendants from all other Domiciles will continue to attend RET at their regular assigned training locations during both the October and November schedule months.
- Flight Attendants are encouraged to bid to attend training during their assigned training month.
- If your training month is November you are encouraged to consider attending RET in October as there may be a larger selection of class dates remaining from which to choose and it is anticipated that this will provide you with an increased number of scheduling options.
- Please contact the Flight Attendant Support Team (FAST) for assistance in scheduling an open seat in October if available.
Your AFA MEC Safety Health and Security Committee has expressed concern over the timing of this notification because it was not provided in sufficient time to allow Flight Attendants with an October training month to prepare for and attend training in September. We will continue to work with the company to try to assist in making the transition as smooth as we can for Flight Attendants.
