LAX Field Hotel Improvements Gained, But Travel Unacceptable

Over the past several months we worked together to address problems with the LAX Radisson layover hotel.  Persistent TVLLOG reports provided our Hotel and Transportation Committee with the ammunition necessary to get management to move us from this unacceptable lodging and into new field hotels as of this week.  While the new hotels are a vast improvement, AFA is not satisfied with the change due to unacceptable transportation.

"AFA has disapproved use of the transportation company that currently provides multiple stop transportation to many hotels around the LAX airport property."

AFA has disapproved use of the transportation company that currently provides multiple stop transportation to many hotels around the LAX airport property.  The transportation has been disapproved due to several unacceptable criteria including safety issues with no van seatbelts, baggage stowed in the isles and transporting passengers who are forced to stand because the vehicles are too full.  We also have concerns about timeliness of the transportation, which should never take more than 15 minutes to or from LAX and the hotel.  If a “full” van passes by United’s terminals on way to hotel without stopping and another van does not promptly arrive for your transportation we want to know about it.

Your Union has identified these problems and disapproved the transportation accordingly, but management contends that it will not be the actual experience of Flight Attendants.  If you have a LAX field layover and encounter any of the unacceptable conditions detailed here or any others, it is critical that you enter a TVLLOG report to provide the necessary documentation for acceptable transportation.  Go to the Hotel and Transportation page on our website for tip in writing an effective TVLLOG report.
