girl holding butterfly with lightening in backgroundWe just compiled the Jumpseatnews web site statistics (based on web server logs) for the latest 6-month period from Feb 19, 2007 to Aug 18, 2007.

We are now averaging 6,566 visitors each day, our highest amount ever.

6,566 visitors each day is a lot, especially since most of them are UAL employees.  We recorded over 116,194 visitors who logged into the Crew Lounge during the six-month period.  These were people that actually had to have a valid UAL file number and company department code (Ex: LAXSW) combination to access that page.

This web site is beginning to overwhelm Bailey and myself because of the increased traffic.  We don’t really know how to react to numbers like this---so we don’t.

We’ll just keep running this goofy site like we’ve been doing since 2000, and continue trying not to take any of this statistical stuff too seriously.

People often ask me why I run this web site.  After all, I’m not getting paid for this stuff and it kinda takes a lot of my time and attention.  The answer is so simple that I think it eludes most people.  I do it because I enjoy it.

That’s the magic.
