Business Education Training Cancelled For Remainder of Year

Date: Aug 24, 2007

Ladies and Gentlemen:

In response to AFA insistence fueled by your reports and feedback, management has cancelled its Business Education Training initiative training for the rest of the year.  As we stated in July following a unanimous resolution adopted by the United Master Executive Council, "the Business Education Training does not provide productive training relevant to Flight Attendants and their day-to-day operational duties and does nothing to address the key concerns of workers further impacting rock bottom Flight Attendant morale."

We addressed with management the many problems associated with the training including management disregard for Flight Attendant schedules, "executive greed and refusal to meet the promises of shared rewards for all workers" which in turn forced Flight Attendants to dismiss the validity of any commitment espoused by management during the Business Education Training or in any other forum.

Management has stated that the program will be revised for introduction in 2008 for employees who have not yet attended the training, but the problems identified by Flight Attendants reach well beyond the issues associated with the training.  Each of these issues must be resolved, particularly the issue of shared rewards, if management expects to present a program that Flight Attendants can support.

In Solidarity,

Greg Davidowitch, President
United Master Executive Council
