Chicago, Oct. 24, 2007 – United Airlines has announced new service between its Los Angeles hub and Des Moines, Iowa, and Austin, Texas. The daily roundtrip flights are scheduled to begin February 13, 2008, and will be served by United Express via its explussm regional service that offers United First and Economy Plus seating.

“Heading to Los Angeles for work or pleasure is now easier than ever for our customers in Austin and Des Moines,” says Kevin Knight, United’s senior vice president – Planning. “This new service gives our customers more convenient connections to Asia, Hawaii and the entire west coast.”

Commenting on the service, Senator Tom Harkin added, “United Airlines' Des Moines to Los Angeles flights will bolster our state’s economy and offer convenient options for Iowans traveling to California. I am very pleased that United is able to provide these additional flights.”

“Increasing access to Des Moines will make flying more productive for businesses and convenient for vacationers," says Senator Chuck Grassley. "These direct flights help relieve some of the headaches of traveling to the west coast and hopefully they will encourage more economic development in Iowa.“

“As a member of the Transportation Subcommittee on Aviation, I appreciate the importance of this announcement, which is very good news for business and pleasure travelers in central Iowa,” says Rep. Leonard Boswell. “I’m extremely pleased that United will be adding this new service.”
