Are they kidding?

NWA were a rap group that popularized gangsta rap with the groundbreaking "Straight Outta Compton" (1989) album, a vicious hardcore record that became an underground hit notorious for its hardcore lyrics, especially those of "F*$k tha Police," which resulted in the FBI sending a warning letter to their record company.

NWA - Straight Outta Compton

"Straight Outta Compton" created a revolution in the genere and was performed by Dr. Dre, Ice Cube (founder), MC Ren and Eazy-E.

Even by today's standards, their lyrics are about as explicit as you can get.  In fact, NWA itself stands for 'N' With Attitude.  And no, I'm not going to list what the "N" stands for here, thanks.  Use your imagination.

Regardless of whether anyone likes or dislikes their music, I hope they sue the hell out of Northwest Airlines executives.  World Wildlife Fund did this against the World Wrestling Federation and won.  Following that lawsuit, the Wrestling Federation changed its name to World Wrestling Entertainment, or WWE.

Yes, NWA is their stock quote or whatever, but they never had used it as a logo before, instead prefering to use 'Northwest Airlines'.  In the meantime, NWA (the group) came along and, well, they did.  Too bad, you snooze, you lose.

You see kids, all sorts of strange things happen when you steal someone's logo initials.  Here's a page from Amazon.com showing the Straight Outta Compton album:

Notice that you can listen to "F*$k tha Police" as well as book a flight at nwa.com!  Oops.  Welcome to the golden age of silly Amazon.com My-2nd-Cousin-Twice-Removed-Also-Found-Interesting website databases.

This idenity problem also carries over to search engines like MSN or Google in which typing 'NWA' will now probably get you to an airline instead of a rapper.
