Beginning June 10, CSRs will board passengers in four groups: 1, 2, 3 and 4. In other words, no more boarding by row number.
United states that this new boarding process will be "up to 30 percent faster."
Here's how it works: Apollo will automatically assign and print seating areas in large, bold text on each boarding pass. The four different 'boarding groups' will be:
During the boarding process, United First, Business and Global Services passengers are allowed to board at any time. According to today's NewsReal, "For various reasons -- such as airport, facilities and cultural differences -- some
international locations will continue to board using their local processes."
It will be interesting to see if there is a noticeable improvement. The #1 time waster will always continue to be carry-on baggage; with people blocking the aisles as they adjust items in the overhead bins.
I also wonder if the last 10 rows of Economy will begin to receive special requests, much the same as exit rows or bulkhead rows do.
