Beginning Oct. 31, 2000 (Halloween, in case you want to wear your Tikki Room mask onboard the inaugural flight) United Airlines will offer daily scheduled service between San Francisco and Lihue, Kauai.

  • Flight 69 will depart from San Francisco at 9 a.m. and arrive at Lihue at 12:50 p.m.
  • Flight 68 will depart from Lihue at 2:20 p.m. and arrive in San Francisco at 9:20 p.m.

The flights will be on 757's with the usual 24/158 configuration.

For those SFO-based members, the rooms at the LIH layover hotel SUCK because they face a wall on the 2nd floor, you cannot open a window to breathe the fresh Hawaiian air, and there's no lanai to relax and listen to native Hawaiian wildlife.  On the upshot, the hotel grounds are beautiful and a real cool place to walk around.  Be sure to check out the pond in the middle---it's pretty.  Also, you arrive at the hotel about 3-6 minutes after leaving the airport in the crew van.  Mai-Tai's can be had as soon as 25 minutes after block time.
