Finally, finally, JFK will get a completely new terminal and a new look. Newsreal reports that United is going to spend 350 million dollars to help New York's Port Authority build a new terminal on part of the Terminal Five site. They will add 15 new gates, more ticketing and baggage facilities, and a new Immigration and Customs area.
This project is expected to be completed by 2005. Once this new terminal construction is complete, United/Port Authority will then begin to improve Terminal Six and continue some additional touches on Terminal Five.
Port Authority claims that the entire JFK airport project, that big mess of rubble you see at just about every terminal, is the largest airport construction project ever in the United States. Total cost of the largest airport construction project ever in U.S. History? 10 billion dollars.
WOOOOOOWWWWWW! That's over twice the figure UAL plans to pay for U.S. Airways!
