There continues to be some uncertainty in the area of a Reserve’s responsibility to answer her/his telephone while on days of availability and when calls come from an unfamiliar telephone number.   When on Reserve and not on a legal rest period, Flight Attendants have an obligation to answer the telephone and/or respond to voice mails from the company while on Reserve availability days.

On May 4, 2018, the company published an ISW article addressing calls from Crew Scheduling to Reserves. The article provided notice to Flight Attendants there may be isolated instances where the company may need to contact Reserves for assignment purposes from other than the normal Crew Scheduling telephone number. The point of the communication was to remind Flight Attendants of their responsibility to be available for assignment on Reserve days. Availability includes answering telephone calls and responding to voice messages in a timely fashion.

For additional details Flight Attendants are encouraged to review the E-Lines publication dated May 4, 2018, and if you have additional questions, please contact your Local Council Office.
