The original Bidding and Award Guide has been updated to include critical new information and updates on Reserve Adjustment ‘RA’ days and the Adjustment Request screens. These updates are captured in a Bidding and Award Guide Supplement which is available from the company’s website and in the Content Locker on Link. These screens will be used as part of the new bidding environment as of September 12, 2018.

In terms of the update on RA days and the Adjustment Request screens, let’s explain what ‘RA’ days are for those who may be unfamiliar with the term. When making adjustments for End of Month Conflicts, if there are no pairing(s) available, the Flight Attendant may first be assigned to reserve adjustment (“RA”) days on days originally scheduled to fly, and then on a remaining day(s) off in the new bid period. A Flight Attendant on an “RA” day is considered to be a Reserve and may participate in Reserve Preferencing or, at her/his option, contact Crew Scheduling to be assigned to a trip in Open Time prior to Reserve Preferencing.

However, if you do not want Crew Scheduling to have the option to assign you RA days for an End of Month (EOM) conflict during the adjustment process, you must specify this each month during the primary bid period. If you select “Do Not Use” for the “RA  Days for adjustment” option, Crew Scheduling will still have the ability to adjust your schedule with available pairings but will not be able to use RA days as an option as provided in Section 7.E.8. of our JCBA.

Keep in mind, aFlight Attendant may require that the Company not use RA days when adjusting her/his schedule.  When electing this option, and a Flight Attendant is not adjusted, or not fully adjusted, then her/his guarantee will be reduced accordingly. The Bidding and Award Guide supplement provides step by step instructions on how to use this process.

It is important to note that the content of the Bidding & Award Guide has been updated to reflect the corrections contained in the Bidding and Award Supplement and we recommend that you print and carry the Supplement as a complement to the printed guide.
