Chicago, September 23, 2004 -- United Airlines today announced it will begin offering daily, nonstop service between San Francisco International Airport and the new Central Japan International Airport, opening in February 2005 near Nagoya, Japan.* Flights open for sale on Saturday, Sept. 25, 2004, with service from San Francisco to Nagoya beginning June 1, 2005, and service from Nagoya to San Francisco beginning June 3, 2005. "We are pleased to offer travelers a convenient, nonstop international route between two important business and leisure destinations in the U.S. and Japan," said Graham Atkinson, senior vice president of United's worldwide sales and alliances. "Our service to Nagoya, the third-largest city in Japan, brings an attractive option to cargo customers as well. The route will provide easy connections to other cities in Japan with our Star Alliance partner All Nippon Airways."

"As the only airline to offer nonstop service between San Francisco and Nagoya, United is enhancing its already industry-leading offering between the U.S. and Asia Pacific," Atkinson added.

United offers more flights between the 50 United States and Asia Pacific than any other airline. From San Francisco, United's largest international gateway on the West Coast, United offers daily, nonstop service to seven Asia-Pacific destinations - Beijing, Hong Kong, Shanghai, Osaka, Tokyo, Seoul and Sydney; three cities in Europe - Frankfurt, London and Paris; and to Mexico City, Calgary and Vancouver in North America. Other destinations United serves in the Asia-Pacific region are Singapore, Bangkok, Taipei and Melbourne.

Flight 831 will depart San Francisco at 1:30 p.m. and arrive in Nagoya the following day at 4:40 p.m. From Nagoya, flight 830 will depart at 3:40 p.m. and then arrive in San Francisco the same day at 9:25 a.m. Flight timings are subject to change.

United will operate the flights with a Boeing 777 aircraft that seats 258 passengers, 12 in United First ®, 49 in United Business ® and 197 in United Economy ®.

United, United Express and Ted operate more than 3,500 flights a day on a route network that spans the globe. News releases and other information about United may be found at the company's web site at http://www.united.com/.

* The service is pending final government approval.
