Clearing Up the Fingerprints

As of May 19, 2004, the TSA will no longer allow crewmembers to fly while their fingerprints are clearing.

Fingerprint clearance is a requirement for SIDA access, and possession of a TSA crewmember badge. In accordance with the policy change, the current line of flying "Q" diagnostic associated with fingerprinting (FGP) has been enhanced to include fingerprint clearance (FGR). The fingerprint clearance (FGR) "Q" diagnostic identifies a flight attendant by appearing in their line of flying after it has been awarded or built and prevents them from flying if they meet both of the following parameters:

  • More than 365 days have passed since the arrival of their last flight flown (FDLD)
  • Their fingerprints cleared more than 365 days prior to their return

If a diagnostic appears in your line, you will:

  • Be contacted by OPB and advised of the diagnostic.
  • Be shown DNF for any affected assignment or reserve day.
  • Surrender your TSA crewmember badge to your supervisor or coordinator for placement in your
    PE file, if physically possible.
  • Be advised to contact the Flight Attendant Service Center (FASC) Badging Team through FLTLINE,
    option 7, 8, for instructions on how to proceed.

Supervisors and coordinators will direct flight attendants who inquire about the "Q" diagnostic in their line to the FASC Badging Team.  Once fingerprints clear, WHQSW will notify the flight attendant and their supervisor of their
