Some IST Training Classes to Begin in March

Source: Archived Content

Date: Feb 09, 2004

Looks like there will be a few IST classes in March.  Onboard Service has indicated that they will offer a 'limited' number of International Services Training (IST) classes beginning in March 2004.

They haven't offered IST since August 2001.

The new classes will be conducted at the WHQ training center. In the past, classes were five days in length, but the classes have been redesigned and the curriculum is now only three days in length.

IST will be offered on the following dates:

  • March 9-11
  • April 20-22
  • September and October (dates for these months have yet to be established)

Classes will be bid in the usual system seniority for domiciles assigned international flying.   You must be legal to attend, and your days off must coincide with the dates of the sessions.

Here's some other info:

  • Trips will not be pay-protected to attend, so if you have a conflict with the training dates you should use the normal trip trade procedures (yeah, good luck if you're junior) to resolve the conflict.
  • Attendees will be housed at the WHQ Training Center (no, not the Ritz-Carlton, sorry) and will receive training pay.
  • Class size will be limited to 20 flight attendants.

You can read more about this in the March and April ALL-CAPS-FORMATTED AND ANNOYINGLY DIFFICULT TO READ cover pages for bidding specifics.
