Some people still have not submitted their personal information to the Government Required Information Database (GRID).

If you have not submitted your information by Nov. 11, you will see an “M” code next to any ID or reserve day in your November line of flying (LOF).

The 'M' Code Unmasked

Dial M for Murder The “M” has no bearing on your LOF other than to tell you that you are within 30 days of the certification deadline, and have not yet submitted your information.

If you haven't submitted your information by 1700 Central time Nov. 16, your December LOF will show the “M” code at the beginning of the month and a “Q” code next to all IDs or reserve days on and after Dec. 11 (including all IDs or reserve days that touch Dec. 11).

  • You will not be able to trade any ID that has a “Q” code associated with it.

If you are an active employee, and you do not submit your personal information by Dec. 10 (or before if your ID "touches" Dec. 11), you will be placed on DNF status, and are subject to discipline up to and including dismissal for not being available to work.

After the Nov. 16 update; United will process your personal information entries every business day at 1700 Central time. To be included in the following day's run, you must submit your information no later than 1700 Central time.

United won't update information on weekends (busy fly-fishing) or over the U.S. Thanksgiving holiday (gooble gooble).

To have your LOF updated before a weekend or holiday, you must submit it before 1700 Central time the day prior to the last business day before the weekend or holiday.
